When we were given this assignment all I could think about was Robyns new cd. Robyn is an indie electronic artist who not that many people know of so I thought it would be great to draw inspiration from her new album Body Talk. Her genre of music that she makes is the same as I choose for my band Pixie Telephone. The concept for my album is a lot of geometric shapes which she has on her album, and the bright bold colors that make it a electric. For me I’m using bubbles as the band is breaking the bubbles into a new period in their music, so it’s perfect, because that is what Robyns new cd is all about.
Being that I love Christmas I was super in the mood to decorate and make my own Christmas decorations over Thanksgiving break. I needed a little inspiration so I turned to my best friend Flickr to give me some ideas to create something really pretty, for my mom. While searching for things I found the Christmas image that was graphically made, and thought that for our final project we should create a Christmas card, or something that relates to Christmas. For the image I found they incorporated the use of pattern so maybe we could combine things that we’ve done with our previous projects to make a Christmas project.
I had no idea what to write about this week, so what I decided on was what we should do for our next project. This is where you get out your whatever you use to write what we are doing for our next project paper, and take into consideration my idea. Since we had the opportunity to make cds for extra credit, I think our next project should be to make cd covers for our favorite artist. No I wouldn’t choose Gaga either even though she is my favorite artist. I think we should have to combine what we know how to do in Photoshop and Illustrator.
Looking at my poster, and based off your assessment from the class I stood back and looked at mine to think about what I could do to make it appear to more like a movie poster. To get inspiration for my poster I decided not to look at movie posters that professionals have made, but instead I Googled fan made posters. I figured that the fan made posters would have used the same software that we are using. Looking at the posters most of them are exact copies, but I’m thinking that I need to choose a super hero movie, and inspire my poster off from an actual movie.
This article makes me wanna cry, and then curl up a corner WITH MY CELLPHONE. I guess it surprises me that people who send more than one hundred and twenty text messages a day or spend more than three hours on a social network are more likely to get sick, drink, smoke, and engage in sexual activity. I guess i’m only blogging this, because now I have an excuse to not go to class I’ll just be sick from texting? It makes sense though with the generation that texts and Facebooks all day we are a lot lazier than previous generations so we may make excuses to be sick. Also with the sexual activity I think it’s probably due to teens who text more are more likely to meet people who may pressure them into certain situations. I guess this article doesn’t really make sense at all to me, but I think it’s interesting so it’s on my blog now, be happy.
I found the following image when searching on Flickr, and I thought it related to what we are doing perfectly in class. I don’t know what we have to do with our project, but in the image a sense of movement is being portrayed off the arm. If this project is similar to our first one and we have to create images based off movement, variety, etc then this can give me inspiration. Also for extra credit we were able to do a tutorial, I wished I could have found something this elaborate for a tutorial, but the process probably would have taken hours, which sounds kinda crazy right now…
I chose this tutorial, because being Joe, and loving to be edgy I wanted to learn how to change the color of my hair so I can pretend like I actually have gray hair.
Some things I learned doing this tutorial would be how helpful the brush tool can be, when you blend the layers. The hair looks naturally gray by using the brush tool, and using the layer icon to blend the colors. I guess I learned Photoshop is difficult and several of the tutorials I chose were not working for me.
I saw this news story on CNN and was instantly drawn to it, a record with 7000 people in it usually gets my attention. Anyway 7000 people recently all attended a festival where a photo was taken. That photo is not just a normal picture anymore, its an internet tagging sensation. With over 7000 people being tagged in one picture the Guiness World of Records book has a new record of the future of the internet to add to their book. I just thought it was fascinating, because as a society we are moving towards the future, and everything for us revolves around not only our computers, but Facebook.
